One of the most complex obstacles faced was effectively fulfilling user requirements while maintaining uniformity across the entire system and constructing adaptable and reusable components that can be customized for various devices and screen resolutions..
Ensuring that all components have well-documented, easily accessible and concise technical details is essential for effective communication and collaboration between different production teams involved in the project.
As a team member, I was responsible for developing the design system components and keeping the library up-to-date. Additionally, I ensured effective communication between the design and development teams to guarantee the proper functioning of these components across different teams within the airline.
The main objective is to ensure that the entire airline system is consistent and visually unified, while also allowing for adaptation of its components to suit different products or sections without losing their visual identity.
We initiated the process of taking stock of the components required for executing a migration of the existing system components from the earlier version. These components were classified based on their functionality to segregate them into components or patterns that could be implemented across various sections or products, and those that were meant for specific products only.
In order to create a comprehensive design system that can be easily understood by all stakeholders, including developers, we have established a standard documentation process. The documentation includes technical details such as component names, descriptions, variants, anatomy, sizes, and examples. This documentation is designed to be simple and easily accessible to all, ensuring that our design system is both functional and efficient.
